It is a great light-weight word processing application available as a universal binary for Mac OS X. I am seriously surprised no-one has mentioned NeoOffice yet. Ok, Mac is not the worlds “best video machine”, well, one of the 8-core xeon Pro series Macs might land in that arena… these days, it is just a multi-purpose OS for the masses, So stop calling it a “Video Machine”. However, Photoshop on a PC will accomplish the exact same thing in the ned as the Mac. It uses less system resources so that Photoshop runs faster, and, I personally like the mac layout, I have more room to arrange things on my screen rather than having everything contained in one window. Now, a Mac against a PC with say photoshop, well, I would take the Mac. I love Omni-graffle, the ability to fully control my OS and having a mostly netbsd shell at my fingertips seals the deal.
I use mine to do some photo stuff, but more or less I se it for network design and engineering. Video software and photo software is pretty much equivalent on both the PC and Mac. However, OS X is nothing more than a OS, an alternative to Windows that in my opinion is not only easy to use for the recreational computer user but it also has one hell of an engine for the geek. It is simple and pretty nice, yet Microsoft could put some effort into it and do the same thing.Īs a real user, I say Apple USE to be JUST for media applications, and for those tasks it did kick butt and it is still popular among the media nuts. Obviously a lot of software that is A/V based is included wit the mac, however, we are talking about things that normal people use in everyday life, such as iLife, does all your photos, videos.
